With these steps costing between $1100 and $1250 before install they shouldn't be such a pain in the ass! And tapping the wires under the dash was a nightmare! (wait for the plug and play version due out in about a month) The components are all quality but you need to have some sort of adjustment for cases like mine. I will say that the install was fairly tough without a lift. Anyone else have a suggestion from their experience? I already beat on the pinch weld a little to try and get it to clear but no luck.
I don't want to grind or bend anything on a brand new truck. My truck had all the holes predrilled from the factory so alignment shouldn't be an issue. However you would think that they would make them with some minor adjustment options?Īnyway I'll call AMP tomorrow and see what they say. I realize every truck's pinch weld is going to be a little different coming off the assembly line. You wouldn't think that they would make them so that 1/8" inch would create a problem but they did!. After performing all the tips and tricks to get them to tuck up and deploy without hitting the pinch weld and getting stuck, I had to remove the front end cap on both side to get them to clear. I just got done installing the AMP PowerSteps on my 2014 RAM Sport Crew Cab.
